Emergency School Closure Learning Page

We have needed close the school today (19th March 2024) due to a water main burst in the area which has left the school without water to wash hands, flush toilets or drink. We are really sorry for the inconvenience this will cause and hope that it is resolved soon, but hope you understand the need to close for hygiene and wellbeing reasons.

We have shared some learning below; if you can’t access this then please don’t worry, we’ll catch up when the school reopens.

We will keep you informed throughout the situation and appreciate your understanding. If you need anything, then please call the school up to 10.30AM (some staff are in briefly this morning to make arrangements), or email win-office@win.jtmat.co.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Write about the things you might see under the sea.

For your spelling activity, you have a task linked to homophones.

Remember, a homophpne is a word that sounds the same but is spelt differently and has a different meaning.

Grammar

I have set out two different tasks for grammar today. Task 1 is word classes. Remember word classes are things such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, determiners etc.

Task 2 is formal and informal language. Remember, we would use formal language when addressing someone who we do not know very well or when writing in a formal style of writing (invitations, letters). We would use informal language when speaking to someone we are familiar with (family, friends).

Reading

Below you will find the link to an example text about ‘Tigers’. This is a non-fiction text. You will then have some questions to answer about what you have read. You can also find the answers on the link.

Remember to think carefully about what type of question you are being asked. If it is retrieval, remember to take it directly from the text, if it is inference you need to use your knowledge and the clues.
