Friday 17th June - Update

Date for your diary - Sports Day!

Sports Day will be on Monday 4th July at 10am.

The whole school will be involved (including both Nursery classes).

We are going to try something new this year, so I will be interested to know your thoughts afterwards.

All the children will be out at the same time, completing in a range of races.

They will be in phases and competing against others in their phase e.g Years 5 and 6 will be together; Years 3 and 4 etc.

Parents and visitors will have a designated area to watch the races, but they will be able to move around within this area to watch children in different classes.

Entrance to Sports Day will be via the Sales Lane Gate from 9:50am.

On this day, the children should come to school in their PE Kit, preferably wearing a T-Shirt in their team colours.

More details next week.

Transition

Next week we start the transition programme in school.

The transition programme is to help the children to get to know their new class teacher and alleviate any of their worries before September.

The children will spend a total of 5 sessions in the new class, between next week and the end of term.

Children will also complete transition passports in school.

The first transition session is next Thursday, so don’t forget to ask them how they got on!

Year 6 who are going to Abbot Beyne in September.

The transition days for Abbot Beyne are Thursday 7th and Friday 8th July.

The children should go straight to Abbot Beyne on these days and should wear their normal school uniform.

Year 1 and 2 Trip to Kenilworth Castle

Year 1 and 2 will be visiting Kenilworth Castle on Friday 24th June.

As part of the History topic this term, we will be visiting Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire

The children will be taking part in a self-led tour which will include visiting different parts of the castle and grounds, as well as completing activities in a booklet. This links with our topic on Knights and Castles and the children will be encouraged to identify the different features of the castle.

The trip will take place during the school day and they will require a packed lunch.

The children will need to wear a school t-shirt with a school cardigan or jumper, dark coloured jogging bottoms or leggings (no shorts or jeans) and trainers. They will also need a waterproof jacket as we will be outside all day.

Family Lunches

It has been lovely to see so many of you at the Family Lunches this week.

Please could parents arrive for 11:45am.

Monday 20th June - Year 5

Tuesday 21st June - Year 6

There was not a Stars of the Week assembly this week, as Reception had their class assembly.

For their very first assembly, they were amazing. Well done Reception!

Stay well, stay safe. And let’s all stay kind.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.

A wood near Athens. A Fairy speaks.

Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire
I do wander every where,
Swifter than the moon’s sphere;
And I serve the fairy queen,
To dew her orbs upon the green:
The cowslips tall her pensioners be;
In their gold coats spots you see;
Those be rubies, fairy favours,
In those freckles live their savours:
I must go seek some dew-drops here
And hang a pearl in every cowslip’s ear.
Farewell, thou lob of spirits: I’ll be gone;
Our queen and all her elves come here anon
