Nursery Home Learning 12-10-21 and 13-10-21

Hello everyone!

This week we are continuing to look for signs of autumn. Can you remember what colour leaves turn in autumn? Red, orange, yellow and brown. Can you look out of a window and see some autumn leaves?

Please find below some activities for you to enjoy completing at home.

Activities:

We are also finding out about hedgehogs. Watch the video above to find out more about them or try some of the activities below:

  • Collect some leaves from your garden and use the to make your own hedgehog.

  • Ask an adult to draw a hedgehog and use pegs to make the prickles.

  • Use salt dough to make your own hedgehog. Use twigs to make the prickles. You can find a recipe for salt dough here.

  • Use twigs and some string or wool to make your own friendship doll. Wrap the wool around the twig and add eyes, nose and a mouth. (See picture below)

  • Make an autumn colours collection. Can you make a collection of things that are red, yellow, orange and brown? How many can you find?

  • Use coloured pens, pencils or crayons to draw you own autumn picture. What colours will you use? Can you draw/ make marks to represent the leaves on a tree or the prickles on a hedgehog?

  • Try some new vegetables. What do they look like? What do they smell like? Talk about why it is good to try new foods and why vegetables are good for us.

  • Count the objects around your house. Can you find a collection of 5 objects? Spoons, cars, construction bricks or shoes, count all the different things that you can find.

We are continuing to develop our independence. Choose one item of clothing to practise putting on everyday. Can you pull your own socks on? Put on your coat or shoes? Help an adult to brush your teeth or hair?

Stay Active

Don’t forget to stay active, keep on moving and build your strength. Dance in the kitchen to your favourite music or watch and move to the videos below:

Story Time

Read, read read! Develop a love of books from an early age. Look at pictures and point out print. As you read to your child, talk about where we start reading (at the top on the left). Talk about where the book is set and who is in the story; the characters. How are they feeling throughout the story? Please get in touch if you would like to borrow some books as this can be arranged.

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon!
