Reception home learning Monday 25th January 2021

Hello everyone. I really hope you are all ok. It has been lovely to hear all about the learning that has been going on at home, you are working very hard. Many thanks to all of you who have sent in photos of the work you are doing, I will be uploading work on a Friday so that I can put it all on together, so look out for those photos each week.

Phonics:

This week we are not learning new sounds but revising the ai, ee, igh and oa sounds we introduced last week. Of course if you want to introduce new sounds to your child that is great. You can listen to the Jolly Phonics songs and look at the sound mat to help you.

  • Listen to and join in with jolly phonics songs we have learnt so far.

  • Find and copy the digraph ai on the sound mat.

  • Sound out the words w-ai-t, p-ai-n, t-ai-l. Can you find them here? What colour is the word wait? Can you read the other words? How many can you read in 1 minute?

  • Using a phoneme frame can you write or make the words wait, rain, rail, mail, chain and hail.

  • Choose 1 or 2 ai words to write into a sentence. E.g We got wet in the rain. The dog wags his tail.

    Literacy:

  • Choose a picture of someone who helps us and write about how they can help us. Can you make a booklet about different people who help us and the jobs they do?

Maths:

Here is our Maths Key Vocabulary Glossary for Reception. This can also be found on our Class Page under the Maths Heading. The glossary will outline the key vocabulary we use in our year group as well as providing a definition and example for each

  • Monday’s maths lesson with Oak National Academy.

  • Can you find different ways to make 9? You can use a 10 frame and 2 different coloured counters/ styles of pasta! Set out the counters in 2 groups so that all together it makes 9. e.g 4 &5, 7&2. Can you find all the different ways to make 9? You could write it down in a similar way to this ( but for the number 9!).

Topic: people who help us:

emergency 999 call.jpg
  • Learn your address and the number to call in an emergency (999) practise what you would say if you were in an emergency and had to make the 999 call.

  • Make you own set of teeth and toothbrush. Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day.

Physical development:

  • Join in with Joe Wicks for his Monday morning workout!

  • Or try a cosmic kids peace out meditation for a calm 10 minutes.

ICT:

  • ICT games viking full circle. (select phase 3, 1st set of letters. Listen to the word and select the letters needed to create the word, click on the big wave to check it. Then listen to the next word and change your letters to make it.
