Reception home learning Monday 8th February 2021

Hello again Reception! I hope you have all had a good weekend and are ready for some more fantastic learning. This week we are going to be thinking about the story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. You may want to listen to today’s story at the beginning of your day so that you know the story. Later on in the week we will also be learning about Chinese new Year and Valentine's day.

Phonics:

I’ve been very brave this week and recorded some videos for our phonics lessons! Depending how they go we may have more or there may only be one video and it will never be repeated, it all depends how many outtakes I need!!

  • The first part of the phonics lesson is a revision of the phase 3 sounds we have been learning. Check out the video above and join in with me.

  • The second part is where we will chop up the sounds in different words and practise reading and then writing words using phase 3 sounds.

  • The third and fourth parts of our phonics is where we practise and apply our phonics skills. I would like you to play Make a match phase 3 week 4 on phonics play. Then applying our phase 3 learning by reading some yes/ no questions on Phonics play phase 3 sentences.

Literacy:

  • Use your set of homemade phoneme (sounds) cards to make oa words. Write them down on a real/ fake words grid. Try to create at least 10 words.

  • Use one of the real words to write a sentence, can you draw a picture to go with it. E.g The goat butted the troll.

Maths:

  • Monday’s maths lesson with Oak National Academy on shape.

  • Make a field. Put some farm animals in the field. Now add some more. How many altogether? You could practise saying a ‘first, then and now’ story. for example: ‘First there were 4 goats in the field, then 3 more came, now there are 7 goats. 4+3=7.’ You could use a 10 frame and record your answers on a grid like this. Try to do at least 5 questions.

Topic: The three Billy Goats Gruff.

  • Use lego or other building blocks to build a bridge for the goats to walk over.

  • Re-tell the story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff using farm animals or stick puppets to help you. (If you don’t have a printer, copy the pictures and colour them in.)

Physical Development:

  • Practise your fine motor skills by threading beads or painted pasta to make a necklace of flowers for the goats.

  • Join Joe Wicks for today’s workout.

  • If you don’t mind an American accent join in with this drama lesson on the 3 Billy Goats Gruff.
