Year 1 Monday 15th March 2021

Hi Year One,

I hope you are okay. All of you that were in school on Friday 5th March need to stay at home for just one more day! You will then be able to return to school on Tuesday 16th March. I look forward to having you all back in the classroom and seeing you later in the week.

Here is a mini-blog for Monday 15th March so that you can complete your learning for today at home. Let me know how you get on using my email address - g.claxton@win.jtmat.co.uk

Today, we are going to rehearse reciting Axel Scheffler’s poem from last week. Use your actions and text map to help.

It’s a Buffalo

When I was born, my coat was red,

But now it’s shiny black.

I’ve long and lovely curving horns,

And birds upon my back!

My cloven hooves are black and hard,

My legs are short and stout.

I trot around with my big herd -

We like to charge about!

Maths

Today, we are going to work on numbers up to 50. Complete this lesson from the National Oak Academy. You will need a pencil and some paper. You will also need a place value chart. You can draw one using the picture below to help.

This afternoon, we are going to focus on ‘Connect’. How do you connect with others? How do we talk and listen to others?

Think about all of the different people that you are connected to. This can include members of your family, friends, people at school and anyone important to you. Think about all of the people that you are closest to and who you can go to if you are worried or upset.

Create a mind map of all of these people. You could choose to draw and write the names of the people that are important to you.
