Pupil Leadership

At Winshill Village, we believe that every child has the potential to be a leader. We want our pupils to develop confidence, responsibility, and a voice that helps shape our school community. Through our pupil leadership roles, children learn to listen, share ideas, and make a difference — showing our school values in action every day.

Junior Leadership Team (JLT)

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) gives pupils the opportunity to take an active role in decision-making and school improvement.

• The team is made up of one representative from each class (Years 1–6).

• The JLT meets regularly with Mrs Brown, our JLT Co-ordinator.

• Members share ideas from their classmates and discuss ways to make Winshill Village the best it can be.

The JLT will be involved in:

• Discussing school priorities and pupil suggestions

• Planning special events and assemblies

• Fundraising for new equipment and charities

• Helping with school tours and representing the school at key events

All children interested in joining the JLT were required to submit an application explaining why they were suitable candidates. This was followed by an election process. The six pupils who were elected then signed a contract to demonstrate their commitment to the leadership group. To suceed in this role, JLT members must be dedicated, dependable, approachable and confident in representing their peers. 

Wellbeing Warriors

Our Wellbeing Warriors have also been elected. These children promote kindness, friendship, and positive mental health across the school. They look out for anyone who feels lonely, encourage inclusivity, and help to make Winshill Village a happy and caring place to learn. Miss Tomlinson, our Wellbeing lead meets with these children regularly. 

Playground Pals

These children help to make playtimes fun, fair, and friendly. They support others in finding games, encourage fair play, and make sure everyone feels included and safe.

Eco Crew

Our Eco Crew members have now been chosen and are already working hard to make our school greener and more eco-friendly.
They are leading projects to promote recycling, save energy, and take care of our school environment.

A Voice for Every Child

We are incredibly proud of all our new pupil leaders.
Each group plays a vital part in making Winshill Village Primary and Nursery School a place where every child’s voice is heard and everyone can make a difference.
