Year 6

Welcome from Miss Tomlinson!

Hello and a big welcome to all our children, parents and carers! My name is Miss Tomlinson, and I am delighted to be teaching Year 6 this year.

This will be my third year of teaching and my second year at Winshill Village. Winshill Village is particularly special to me as it is also the primary school I attended as a child! I am incredibly excited to continue bringing my love of learning into the classroom and to support our Year 6 children during their final year with us.

Year 6 is a very special and exciting stage of primary school. Throughout the year, the children will continue to develop their confidence, independence and resilience as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. We will explore a wide range of engaging topics across the curriculum, with opportunities for fascinating historical learning, creative artwork, hands-on science investigations and purposeful writing.

In our classroom, we place great importance on our school values, including respect, effort and belonging. I aim to create a positive and supportive environment where every child feels valued, is encouraged to challenge themselves and has the confidence to grow, explore and achieve their very best.

Alongside our classroom learning, we will enjoy enrichment opportunities, trips and special events that will help make the children's final year at Winshill Village a memorable one.

I am really looking forward to an amazing year ahead and celebrating everything our Year 6 children achieve as they “Dream Big and Learn Without Limits.”
