Hello everyone!

It was fantastic to see so many of you on zoom last week. Wasn’t it great being altogether and having some fun! I loved hearing your half term news and our treasure hunt game was lots of fun and I have realised how competitive you all are! Next week’s zoom call is on Thursday at 2pm when we will all celebrating World Book Day together! I’m looking forward to finding out which stories you have all chosen to share!

This will be our last week of home learning (yay!) as we will all be back in school next Monday. Please keep sending your work through to me and so that I can upload it to our Year 5 Learning Gallery. If you find anything tricky this week, don’t forget you can email me.

On Thursday this week, it is World Book Day. Our whole day will be dedicated to celebrating reading and our love of books. Together, with the rest of the John Taylor Multi-Academy Trust (JTMAT), we will be taking part in shared activities, ideas and competitions. We will be sharing pictures of activities completed both in school and at home. Please visit the JTMAT World Book Day website. Click here to access. Be sure to send photographs of your work to your teacher so that we can share on the JTMAT website and enter the competition! Send all pictures and work to your teacher’s email address in the usual way.

During today’s English lesson, we will be looking at identifying different letter patterns in words with ow endings, creating a story map for an adventure story and exploring and clarifying the meaning of vocabulary.

World Book Day

Today, all of our activities are going to link with celebrating World Book Day. We have not set you any Topic or Maths work for today as we are going to be focusing on celebrating World Book Day all day. We are going to be identifying how authors engage readers, sharing our opinion on stories, making our favourite book characters using toilet roll tubes or paper and thinking about how we can support the environment and represent our ides using art, poetry or story writing.

Friday 5th March

During our English lesson today, we will be looking words where the ie is adjacent (expect for one – can you spot the exception word?), we will also be finishing our adventure story and editing our writing.
